Briars @ Thornleigh Squash

There have been some very exciting developments over the past few weeks with the NSW squash Board accepting our offer of Briars Squash amalgamating with Thornleigh squash with the following agreement:

  1. 1 x Sydney Premier Division team, 12 x senior Pennant and 6 x  junior teams (Saturday comp) to be re named as Briars@Thornleigh Squash Club. This will bring approximately  90 new Briar members to the club and increase our current squash playing membership by 12 fold; with squash players now representing Briars@Greenlees sport from the elite level of premier league to junior development.
  2. Our No 1 Men’s team will be a Sydney Premier Division team playing out of Briars@Thornleigh and this will be known as Briars@Thornleigh Premier Squash.
  3. 12 senior Pennant teams playing Northern Districts from Sydney 1 to Division 15.
  4. 6 Junior teams playing Sydney Junior squash Saturday morning Sydney Junior competition.
  5. Sponsorship of Premier and Elite Junior squash players Pennant fees.
  6. Briars@Thornleigh Squash Scholarships for NSW Junior Development Squad and Australian team.
  7. Sponsorship of the NSW Open 2014 to be held at Briars@Thornleigh Aug 2014. This is open to the international field and will be the highest profile squash event in NSW this year.

Club Structure

  1. Our No 1 Men’s team will be a Sydney Premier Division team playing out of Briars@Thornleigh and this will be known as Briars@Thornleigh Premier.

  3. 6 Junior teams playing Sydney Junior squash Saturday morning competition.

Both senior and junior player will become Briars members. A new Members introductory evening to all new squash players will be held at Briars sports  Clubwithin the next few weeks prior to the start of the Spring Pennant 11 August.
