Men’s Bowls
July 2022 – Quarterly Report
2022 has seen a positive start to Men’s Bowls after the disruptions of the past couple of years. We have begun our club championship competitions and have completed both the Major Singles and Club Major Fours events. Currently nearing completion are the Major Pairs and Minor Singles events.
The Major Singles was won by John Goulding over Marc Devillecourt 25-20 in an entertaining and close fought contest which produced “some of the best bowling shots seen this year” as one spectator opined. The club major fours competition was also an entertaining affair with John Houteas, Eddie Truesdale, Steve White and Eddies’ grandson Ronan Coombes victorious over the perennial Mario Zanella, Marcus Woods, George Templenezza and Adrien Crump. Final score was 24-13.
During the club championships a couple of sponsored tournaments have taken place including against Burwood Diggers Bowling Club and Manning Funerals Turnaround Triples. Both were extremely enjoyable days of bowls, food and drink. Greenlees Park would like to thank both Burwood and Mannings for their continued sponsorship.
Finally, our Pennants competition against other Zone Clubs is about to commence after a hiatus due to Covid. This is the high point of competitive bowls for many clubs and Greenlees Park will be entering 2 teams in divisions 3 and 4. Good Luck to both.
