Club 4’s Final Champions Crowned
16 February 2025 – The Club 4 Fours final was a thrilling display of skill and determination, with both teams leaving it all on the green. Ronan Coombes skippered and supported by Eddie and Margaret Truesdale, along with Greg Russell, went head-to-head against David Little, Ryan Marangan, Ethan Murphy, and Matt Brown.
In a match that had everyone on the edge of their seats, the sides were locked at 20-20 after 20 tense ends. With David’s team holding two shots, it all came down to Ronan’s final bowl. In a moment of pure composure, Ronan delivered the shot that secured the victory, claiming the Club Fours Championship for his team.
A huge congratulations to Ronan, Eddie, Margaret, and Greg for their well-earned triumph. And a big shoutout to David’s team — with such talent and determination, we’re sure we’ll see them in many more finals at Greenlees. An exciting future is on the horizon for the club!
Pennants Wrap Up – 22 February 2025
Round One of the MNW 24/25 Pennants Tournament kicked off with Greenlees fielding three strong squads across three divisions: Grade 4’s, 5’s, and 7’s.
The Grade 4’s travelled to Hunters Hill and emerged victorious, taking the Big Board with a resounding 9-1 win! A special mention goes to John Goulding, who skippered Garry Nicholls, Matt Brown, and Chris Landas to an impressive 35-16 rink victory. Well played, lads!
Our Grade 5’s made the trip to Pennant Hills and engaged in some tightly contested matches. While the results didn’t go our way, the team showed resilience and grit, with plenty of positive takeaways from the day. There’s a lot to build upon as we move forward in the season.
At home, the Grade 7’s hosted Dural and came away with two rink wins out of three. A solid start for the 7’s, and a great foundation to build upon for the season ahead.
Looking ahead to Round 2, our Grade 4’s and 5’s will be playing at home. The 4’s will take on Wentworthville, while the 5’s face Toongabbie. The 7’s will be on the road, hosted by Denistone.
Additionally, El-Cock’o launches this Friday afternoon! We’ve revamped the format of Cock’o’the Walk, introducing a new twist: the furthest bowl from the jack gets eliminated, along with any bowl in the ditch or out of bounds. Come down and give it a try – we look forward to seeing you there!
