Rookies Pairs & Rookie Singles State Finals
The 2024/2025 Rookies Pairs & Rookie Singles State Finals played from THU 21 NOV – SAT 23 NOV saw Greenlees Bowling Club fielding a strong contingent of talent. Our Rookie Pairs teams, featuring Jaye Stevenson with Gary Nicholls, and David Little with Ethan Murphy, represented the club with pride. Both teams scored solid victories, but unfortunately fell just short of qualifying for the Quarter Finals. Regardless, they displayed excellent skill and determination throughout the tournament.
A special shout-out to Ethan Murphy, who competed brilliantly in the Rookie Singles event. Ethan won two out of his three matches, starting with a hard-fought 17-15 win over David Maiorana from Campsie. He then turned on a dominant performance against Aaron Bailey from Wallerawang, securing a decisive 17-2 victory. Ethan’s final match saw him go the distance with Stuart Powell from Albion Park, narrowly losing 17-15. Stuart went on to reach the final, highlighting how tough Ethan’s competition was.
Thanks to David O’Connell, Mark Gorlecki, and Dave Little, the entire club was kept up-to-date with the latest results throughout the event. Well done, boys, for your efforts in keeping us informed!
The strong performances in these finals bode well for the future of Greenlees Bowling Club. Congratulations to all players for their hard work, dedication, and excellent representation of the club. You wore the kit with pride!
Mollymook Trip Recap.
Greenlees sent a convoy down to Mollymook for our annual Tournament and Socials Bowls Day, held from November 15-18. It was a sensational few days, filled with competition, camaraderie, and plenty of laughs for both clubs. The Tournament was so closely contested that the two clubs couldn’t be split — a thrilling result determined by countback! It was a fantastic experience for everyone involved.
On behalf of Greenlees, we would like to extend our sincere thanks to the Mollymook Bowling Club for their warm hospitality and excellent organisation. We’re already looking forward to another great trip next year!
Open State Pennant Finals
Congratulations to the Grade 6 Greenlees Park bowlers who competed in the State Final at Yamba last weekend. Although unable to achieve a placing in the Finals the boys played with spirit and verve. In achieving the opportunity to play against the best teams in the State, they certainly did our club proud and reinforced the growth and potential which we value at the club.
Our thanks to the motel staff and the organisers who looked after us over the 4 days.
Once again- well done Grade 6. You have left us with some priceless memories.

Anzac Day Sevice & Bowls Tournament
A solemn and respectful tribute to our fallen was held on the Keith Free Green on ANZAC Day this year.
