Briars Rugby is Hosting the Rugby Semi-Finals
Briars Rugby will host the semi-finals of the division two competition with four grades competing for a spot in the grand final (held at Concord Oval on the 6th September). First, Third and Fourth grade will be at Rothwell Park whilst Second Grade head over to Concord Oval for their fixture.
Games kick off from 9am and all support from Briars past, present and future is most welcome and encouraged. Let’s get our boys over the line with a parochial supporter base. Briars Burgers, pies, beers and more will be available all day to support the crowd that support us.
Briars Rugby finish in 3rd place in the Club Championship with FOUR grades in finals
Briars Rugby have finished the regular season in 3rd place in the club championships, up from 5th last year, with an amazing four grades making through to finals with only our growing and improving colts side missing out. This marks the first time for this achievement since the highs of 2006 and 2007 with an opportunity to win multiple premierships in almost 20 years.
First grade finished a clear third place and will take on UNSW in the semifinal in a big grudge match, many are calling the match of the round. Second grade finished fourth and will play minor premiers Petersham, who they beat a few weeks ago. Third grade will face off against St Patricks after finishing in 2nd in the regular season and our mighty fourth grade “Bin chickens” finished in 2nd place also and face Waverley for their chance at a premiership.
All the finals are held at either Rothwell Park or Concord Oval over the next two weeks, so all supporters are encouraged to come and support the teams.
The Annual Briars Rugby Lunch
The annual Briars Rugby Lunch was another great event held at Briars Sports last Friday. Guest speaker was Mike Tindall, MBE, who entertained the crowd with some fantastic insights and stories from his time as a rugby player, podcaster and member of the British Royal Family.
Another highlight was hearing from two young Briars Juniors Rugby players in Jacob McGrath and Daniel Crippa who definitely shone beyond their ages with their insight on how Briars is shaping them as young men.
Thank you to everyone who came and supported Briars Rugby on the day and we will look to the next big event at the golf course in the offseason.
