Bowls Report – 26/04/24
Mid Week Challenge, Wednesday 24th April – Section-A played at Castle Hill and unfortunately lost. Section-B played at Pennant Hills also losing their match.
The final day for the mid-week challenge will be held on the 1st May.
From the 1st July, Macquarie and Mitchell Districts will be known as the Metro North West Region. New committees are now being formed. Greenlees Park Women’s Bowls are also expecting two new bowlers to join the club.
Bowls Report – 11/04/24
Club’s Minor Singles – Congratulations to Angelica Alvarez who won the Club’s Minor Singles today! Runner up was Mary Kang. The game was tightly contested and was an exiting to watch.
On Wednesday, 10th April Greenlees Women’s Bowls, section-A won over Northmead Blue. Greenlees Park Women’s Bowls Section-B went down to Castle Hill Green.
On Monday, Macquarie district scored 72 but went down to Mitchell District, scoring 79. This was Greenlees Park Women’s Bowls best result for some time with the games played at Pennant Hills.
Bowls Report – 04/04/24
The minor singles championship commenced today with the semifinals being played. Following are the results,

On Wednesday, 3rd April our women’s bowls team commenced The Northwest Challenge from Mitchell District. The aim of this event is to involve all the clubs in the Macquarie/Mitchell Districts in visiting different clubs in the newly proposed regions. The Wednesday games will run for 5 weeks with some games being played on a Thursday.
- Section B played at Toongabbie but went down.
- Section A played at Wenty Leagues today and lost.
On Thursday, 28th March Women’s bowls competed in the singles Easter Singles Consistency and enjoyed a buffet lunch at the Backyard at Briars afterwards.
On Monday, March 25th, we bid farewell to our beloved member, Carole Pomroy, in a solemn funeral service. As a tribute, 17 bowlers came together to form a Guard of Honour, accompanying Carole’s coffin from the chapel to the hearse carriage en route to the burial park.
The final of the Club Fours was played last week.
- The winners were Marlene Dunn, Ivanka Mihaljek, Margaret Truesdale & Gladys Barnes.
- The runners-up were Therese Cutrupi, Val Day, Jennifer Leek & Rosalind Lightfoot.
The final score was 18 to 16, a very tight game which was played on a hot day.
On Friday, 23rd February, 21 members attended the annual Canada Bay Veteran Ladies Bowls Day. A game of triples was played followed by a very enjoyable lunch. Thanks to Canada Bay Council who sponsored the event.
This past Sunday, 25th February, Briars Sports held their AGM. Lorraine McAuliffe was awarded the Brian Huttly Award for her services to the Ladies Bowls Club, but sadly was unable to attend as she was in hospital recovering from successful surgery. Brian read out her recommendation and Gladys accepted Lorraine’s award on her behalf.
