Mollymook Bowls Tournament

The finale of the Men’s Bowls pennants season unfolded at Mollymook Bowling Club over the weekend of October 6th-9th. Fourteen bowlers travelled down on Friday morning and were welcomed by Ron Walls, the bowls coordinator, with a round of cold schooners.

Saturday saw the traditional Mollymook & Greenlees Cup Challenge between Greenlees Bowls and Mollymook Bowlo, resulting in a tie at one all, Greenlees Park 117 v Mollymook 109. There was plenty of banter by all. On Sunday, the Mollymook Road Runners emerged victorious against Greenlees with a score of 83 to 75.

Special thanks were extended to Ric Cilona, the President of Greenlees Park Men’s Bowls, for organizing the weekend. Gratitude was also expressed to Ron Walls (Bowls coordinator), Brian Thurecht (President), and the bar staff for their hospitality. The players look forward to returning next year for another round of competition at Mollymook Bowling Club.

Major Pairs Final

Congratulations to Colin Darlington & Myron Kubyk who competed against Jeff Wheatley & Bryan Coulthart and came away victors, winning the Major Pairs Final. The match was closely contested with a seesawing scorecard.

Club Minor Pairs – Finals

Congratulations to Dave O’Connell & Marc DeVillecourt on their win against Paul Koziollek & Marcus Woods 23-15 in the final of the Club Minor Pairs. It was anyone’s game right up to the 18th end, where it was 18-15. A 3 to Dave & Marc on the 19th made it very hard for Kozzy & Woodsy to fix things from 21-15. Another 1 on ends 20 & 21 to Dave & Marc sealed the deal. In all the day could have been anyone’s at any time, but there has to be a winner & a runner up. Congrats boys, you played your shots well.

Club Minor Pairs – Semi Finals

On Sunday 18th of June both semi finals games of the Minor Pairs were played under great sunny conditions. Dave O’Connell & Marc deVillecourt were the victors in their match and Paul Koziollek & Marcus Woods won their match.
The final will be played this Sunday 25th June from approximately 9:30 am.

Club 4’s Final

Sunday the 26th of February saw the Club 4’s Final played at GPBC in what was fine conditions for lawn bowls. High 20’s temps, little to no breeze. What more could you ask for? In the end there can be only one side to walk away victorious. 2023’s 4’s Winners were Eddy Truesdale, Tony Fullagher, Tom Lagreca, & John Houteas with a 21-14 scoreline. The Runners Up were John Goulding, Terry O’Kane, Chris Landas & Garry Savidis. Congrats to the winners & to all who played in general. Two of the players involved are rookie players & should be very proud of their acheivements thus far in their lawn owling journey.

Pennants – Round 1

Saturday the 25th of February saw round 1 of Pennants played. Grade 4 played at home against North Epping & unfortunately didn’t come away with any chocolates. Grade 6 travelled to The Fountain On The Mountain (Putney Bowlo) & came home victorious with a 2 rink win & the third rinks score of 10-15 didn’t reflect the quality of the match. Next week sees Grade 4 away at Wenty & Grade 6 at home against Pennant Hills

Bowls NSW 2023 State Finals

On Sunday the 5th of February our very own Marc Carroillon de Villecourt was representing us at the Bowls NSW 2023 State Finals at the Raymond Terrace Bowling Club. Marc also had a healthy bunch of fellow bowlers from the club there to cheer him on.
In his 1st game, Marc saw himself at 2-12 down against Daniel Scanlon (Engadine) but managed to get back into the game to still register a loss of 13-17.
In his 2nd game against Jason Lawrence (Pacific Palms) Marc won 17-13
In his 3rd game against Joshua Arndell (Maclean) Marc won 17-11
With 2 wins & a loss, Marc didn’t have enough points to move into the semifinals.
Marc, non the less, you should be very proud of your achievements this year in bowls. Your club is super proud of you.
