| We’re excited to kick off another incredible year of hockey and break in our NEW TURF at our SEASON LAUNCH on Saturday 22nd February.
This newsletter includes important information for both Junior and Senior teams, so please save it so you don’t miss any trials or events. IMPORTANT: We still need to fill the role of Junior VP. | 2. Working Bee at Cintra – HELP NEEDED
On Saturday 15th February 9am to 12pm we will be holding a Working Bee at Cintra Hockey Complext to get ready for the season. Many hands make light work, so please come down and help get our NEW pitch and clubhouse ready for the season. |

We are a club full of hard-working volunteers. Thanks to all the coaches that have stepped up for the 2025 season. We cannot wait to see our teams grow under your guidance! | 5. Briars Season Launch 22nd FEB – SAVE THE DATE
Our NEW PITCH is ready! To celebrate, we are hosting a fun-filled Season Launch at Cintra. Dress up to match our BLUE pitch! Wear blue OR dress as your favourite blue-themed character – best dressed recieves a prize! (Ideas: NSW kit, Smurfs, Monsters Inc, Sonic, Dory, Stitch). Please join us on the day to enjoy the following:

| 6. Hookin2hockey – Flick Kids
Briars Flick Kids will run for 6 weeks on Friday’s from 5:30pm to 6:15pm at the backyard starting Friday 21st February. This program allows kids (aged 3-5) to have fun, get out, make friends and play. It gives juniors the opportunity to be mentored in a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment where they progress their physical literacy skills while enjoying the game of hockey. Are you a registered Hookin2hockey kid (aged 5-12 years old)? If so, you have just been offered the chance to be part of the Guard of Honour for the Kookaburras and Hockeyroos matches this weekend! As part of this special experience, you’ll stand on the turf alongside the players before the match, cheering them on as they take the field. Each participant will receive a ticket to the game for themselves and one adult. Key Details: ✅ You can register for Saturday, Sunday, or both days. ✅ You’ll be part of the Guard of Honour for both matches on your selected day(s). ✅ Arrival time: 5:00-5.15 PM | Expected finish: 7:30 PM. ✅ Spots are limited, and we will confirm participant attendance on Friday. | 7. SEHA Junior Nominations are now open!
Sydney East Rep Hockey is back on deck for the 2025 Field Rep Season! ALL Briars players are eligible to represent Sydney East in 2025. Nominations are now open for U/14, U/16 & U/18 players through the SEHA Junior Rep Player Nomination Form. Please note that in 2025 U/12 trials will be held separately from U/18, U/16 and U/14 trials that are the subject of this nomination form. Nominations for U/12 will be requested in late February, with trial dates in late March/early April. The process is simple – all players who are interested nominate for selection by completing the information requested on the SEHA Junior Rep Player Nomination Form and pay $20 to cover field hire and equipment costs. Then you come to the trials – the trials will be at UNSW Hockey Club in Daceyville (week 1) and Bankstown Hockey Field (week 2) – the dates and times are at the end of this email, and on the SEHA website here. The trials include some skill sessions, drills and games. Once the trials are completed selectors will name a team which will be published on the SEHA website. If selected, you will be advised of training times and other details about playing for SEHA. See our Frequently Asked Questions page on the SEHA website for more information. The location and dates of carnivals and tournaments SEHA team’s will be playing in are listed on the SEHA website here. Nominations close on Wednesday 19 February 2025, and we look forward to seeing you at the trials: We are always looking for coaches and electors to support our rep program. | 8. Fees & Registration
Registration for the 2025 season is now OPEN. Please register and pay your fees before the 17th of March to receive your early bird discount. All players MUST BE REGISTERED before the first game of the season. You cannot take the field without completing your registration!

Indian Hockey League Champions!
Congratulations to our Briars girls Kaitlin and Jocelyn on their victory with the Odisha Warriors Womens Hil Team!!
They have been crowned the FIRST-EVER Women’s Hockey India League Champions after defeating Soorma Hockey Club 2-1 in an epic final, which was played in Ranchi!
“Every pass, every goal, every save – our Warriors left everything on that blue turf. This victory isn’t just ours; it belongs to every young girl who dreams of picking up a hockey stick. We’ve shown that dreams do come true when you work hard enough!
