Briars Sportsman’s Luncheon
Friday, 30th August 2018
This year the annual Sportsman’s Luncheon was held at Cockle Bay.
We were welcomed by the Mayor of the City of Canada Bay, Angelo Tsirekas and then bamboozled by the Mindreading skills of our MC Phillip Cornwall. Not even our Hockey guru Nicola Skinner could fool Phil with her little white lie…..
As we taste tested the variety of wine and beer on display Rugby cheered home the Melbourne Cup winner to steal 1st prize in our fake horse race.
The food was both generous and tasty with the chefs at Dockside doing a great job feeding a couple of hundred people in a very short space of time.
Greg Ritchie then took the stage and entertained the crowd along with his good mate Mahatmacoat. Once Greg finished the event closed, however it seemed obvious that many patrons had not hydrated sufficiently and were forced to adjourn to the nearby Pontoons Bar (amongst others) to replenish their hydration levels.
A generous crowd who participate enthusiastically in the horse race, raffle and auctions enabled us to raise in excess of $20,000.
Special thanks to those who assisted in organising tables, you help is always greatly appreciated.
